Buried Truth - News - The Pitchpage 1 - The Pitch

Buried Truth - News - The Pitchpage 1 - The Pitch : "Allowing ANY commercial development on the land where cemteries are located is absolutely insane!! Obviously, some politician must have a lot to gain in order to pull this one off! It would be one thing to ask for the land to build a hospital or senior living facility, but a racetrack?!?! Come on!! People complain about gas prices now, and your citizen's are going to go for a racetrack?? Why don't we just build a bank or a 7-Eleven in the middle of Arlington National Cemetery! Unless you have knowledge of who is buried in these graves, you can't know for sure that there are not veterans of some sort interred there! If it were your family, you'd be pitching a fit too!! This is one area that majority rule is complete and utter B.S.!! Cemeteries are sacred grounds. It is against Federal law to disturb Native American burial grounds, so what makes this any different?? I guess it is the whole 'there are more of us...

Buried Truth - News - The Pitchpage 1 - The Pitch : "Buried Truth Up at the airport, under what's slated to be a private racetrack, no one's resting in peace. By Nadia Pflaum Published on November 15, 2007 It has been light for only an hour, but the Watkins Brothers Memorial Chapel is open for business. In the back of the Cleaver II Boulevard complex, two new coffins, still shrink-wrapped in plastic, stand on rolling platforms in a concrete hallway. Later today, they will contain two of the community's recently deceased. For 98 years — four generations — this family-owned funeral home has buried the city's African-American dead. This morning, though, Warren Watkins Jr., vice president, embalmer and funeral director, has business concerning people who have been dead much longer. * Michael Forester Olin Miller and Shirley Kimsey hold Kimsey’s cemetery map. Branson Veterans Task Force: Branson Remembers : "Preserving Stories of Service for Future Generations Everyday we loose 1,500 Veterans. How many legacies must we continue to lose? Veterans who share their story leave behind a lasting legacy. Volunteers are the pillars of this project. About The Veterans History Project In 2000 the Veterans History Project was originated by the U.S. Congress (public law 106-380) when the Library of Congress was mandated to collect the stories of veterans and civilians who contributed to the liberties we all enjoy in the United States. A war record is not required. The need to start collecting these narratives was realized as these memories became more precious with the passing of World War II veterans. A majority of interviews come from veteran reunions held locally. To discover interview locations search the LOC. The BVTF summarizes the taped experiences on a FAX sent to the LOC for data entry on their web site - www.loc.gov/vets It is ...
